Job Openings: Member Service Representative - Float Position

Duties:

Role:
Assists members and potential members with their financial needs by processing transactions, opening new accounts, resolving problems, and providing guidance on products and services. Delivers a welcoming and positive member experience while developing knowledge of credit union offerings and procedures.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

30% Member Service & Transactions

  • Process member transactions accurately and efficiently, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, transfers, and check cashing.
  • Balance cash drawer daily and follow all cash handling procedures.
  • Assist members with basic account inquiries and direct more complex needs to appropriate staff when necessary.
  • Ensure all transactions are completed in accordance with credit union policies and procedures.

20% Account Management & Learning Development

  • Open new accounts with guidance, ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Learn credit union products and services through training and hands-on experience.
  • Begin to identify opportunities to support member needs and make recommendations as knowledge grows.
  • Assist members with basic digital banking tools and services.

20% Compliance & Procedures

  • Follow all internal policies and procedures, including identity verification and account opening requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for transactions and member interactions.
  • Stay up to date on required training and procedural updates.

20% Culture & Team Contribution

  • Promote a positive, team-focused environment by leading with kindness, professionalism, and respect.
  • Deliver a high level of service that reflects the credit union’s commitment to members and the community.
  • Support team members and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities.

10% General

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the credit union.

Performance Measurements:
1. Member Service

  • Provide fast, efficient, and friendly service while creating a positive experience for every member.
  • Ensure members feel welcomed, respected, and supported during each interaction.

2. Accuracy and Attention to Detail

  • Process transactions accurately and maintain strong attention to detail in all work.
  • Ensure all account documentation and system entries are completed correctly and in a timely manner.

3. Product Knowledge and Member Support

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of credit union products and services.
  • Confidently answer questions and guide members to the solutions that best meet their needs.

4. Relationship Building and Cross-Selling

  • Actively look for opportunities to recommend products and services that benefit the member.
  • Engage in natural conversations that help strengthen relationships, not just complete transactions.

5. Operational Responsibility

  • Follow all procedures for cash handling, balancing, and daily operations.
  • Maintain an organized workspace and contribute to the overall efficiency of the branch.

6. Compliance and Risk Awareness

  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Recognize and escalate unusual or potentially risky situations appropriately.

7. Teamwork and Reliability

  • Be dependable, punctual, and supportive of team members.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment and assist where needed to ensure smooth daily operations.

Requirements:

Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: One year to three years of similar or related experience.

Education: A high school education or GED.

Interpersonal Skills: Work involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for the purpose of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (members or vendors), requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.

Other Skills: Able to operate a 10 key calculator, typewriter and computer keyboard.

Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, occasional sitting, bending, reaching, walking; ability to keyboard for extended periods of time. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
